Introducing Pastor George Eckstein

“Beloved let us love one another, for love is of God and he who loves is born of God and knows God.” I John 4:7

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I feel very
blessed to be in your midst this summer as you grieve the loss of
Pastor Rich and continue to look forward to the next
chapter in the life of First UCC Hellertown.

I have pastored churches for the past 46 years, the majority of time
in the Lehigh Valley. Recently I retired and moved to Iowa where I
have family members. I missed the pastorate and I surely missed
the beauty of the Lehigh Valley and so I am back home.

I have been to one worship service here several weeks ago and
found all of you very friendly and very alive. Friendly churches
grow. Everyone here that Sunday not knowing who I was greeted
me and some introduced themselves. It made me feel very
welcome. Some may ask what makes a church grow? I think good
sermons, good music and lots of love and forgiveness. As a visitor,
you can feel tension in a divided congregation. Someone once said
you may disagree, but you don’t have to be disagreeable. I can
already feel the love here. I will be here for the summer and God
willing, you will have a new pastor waiting in the wings in the fall. If
there is anything I can do to help you, please feel free to call me.
So have a great summer and I will see you in church.

In service of the Master,

Pastor George
