We Welcome Christ!
Christmas this year will provide us numerous opportunities to welcome the Christ Child into our hearts, into our lives, and into the world. Perhaps someone could ask “why do we keep doing this each year”? My simple answer if also in a form of a question. Why do we continue to remember birthdays, anniversaries of all kinds and graduations? We want to remember and celebrate the passage of time and our relationship to events that matter and changed us for the good.
The Sunday School Christmas program will take place at the 10:30 AM worship service on Sunday December 18, 2016. I will guarantee that this service will warm your heart, brighten your spirits and prepare you to know the joy of Christ, God’s true Christmas gift. We are also designing the 7 PM service on Christmas Eve to be one that has a children’s emphasis and will include them in all parts of the service. We will make an effort to keep this service to under an hour in length to be children friendly. The 9 PM service will be our traditional candlelight service that will be quieter, with more music and scripture readings. This will be a service of deep joy and meaning. Since these will be such different services, why not come to both? We close out our Christmas services with a 10:30 AM service on Christmas Day. Last time our calendar fell this way, I was pleased with the joy and enthusiasm of my fellow Christians, who attended worship with me. There really was something special about each one of them.
I close with the words to an old hymn, which speaks to the true meaning of Christ in Christmas “O come to my heart, Lord Jesus, there is room in my heart for thee.” May this be the best Christmas ever!
Christmas joy, love and peace!
It’s not what’s under the Christmas tree that matters, it’s who is around it.
