Psalm 139:14 English Standard Version (ESV)
14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

At a recent outing to Dorney Park, our five-year old grandson, was standing in a long line waiting to ride the train. He engaged an older man, also waiting for the train, in a conversation. After a while the man introduced his severely disabled, non-verbal, adult son to him. The gentleman said that it was pleasure to talk with such a nice young man because his son cannot speak.  Our grandson looked at the man in the wheel chair and then back at the older gentleman and said, “I hope you know that Jesus made your son special.” Then after a moment he said, “He made me special, too and my mommy and my daddy …..” We’re all special to Jesus.

The reason I share this story is because Sunday School and worship are paramount to a child’s development. Lessons learned there and reinforced at home (or vice versa) help to form who and whose we are. In this topsy-turvy world in which we live, a world that invites our children to participate in violence and drugs, Sunday School offers hope. Please bring your children to Sunday School. You can attend our adult classes while they are attending their classes.

Attending Sunday School and/or worship will give us the tools and knowledge we need to spread God’s love to all people. We are all special but occasionally, we need to be reminded of that, even if that reminder comes from a special needs five-year old.
