Confirmation Is Confirming Our Faith
On Sunday May 15, 2016, at the 10:30 A.M. service of worship, four young people from our congregation will be taking their part in the Rite of Confirmation. I have been helped this year by my assistant teacher, Jared, who was confirmed in the 2014 class of confirmation. He has been helpful to me as my past assistant, Emily had been with the classes from 2013 through 2015. Confirmation will be a special day for all of us as well. It is an opportunity for us to encourage these young people on their continuing pilgrimage of faith. Will we continue to welcome, encourage and include them in our church’s activities and ministries? Our newest youth gathering, YA Cafe will be a wonderful way for them to continue in their faith adventure.
May all of us take the opportunity of Pentecost 2016 . May it be a time when we confirm and make strong our faith and commitment to Jesus Christ as we are asking them to do. As we hear the questions being ask of them, can we also ponder our faith commitment? What would our honest answer be? Let’s designate May 15, the day of Pentecost, to be a true faith celebration and renewal of our individual Christian faith.
