Christ the Lord is Risen
Can you picture the glory of Easter morning? Spring flowers adorn the front of the sanctuary, the choir is full voice leading us in singing “Christ the Lord is Risen today”, a trumpet sound may even add to the stirring sounds of the triumph of faith and life over the power of death. This is the celebration of the victory of our God. “Made like Christ, like Christ we rise “is the Christian’s one true and abiding hope throughout our earthly life. God promises to the believer, “the best is yet to come”.
One truth that is often passed over by the casual observer is a difficult truth, and one that is often avoided, there is no Easter without Good Friday. I will tell you from the bottom of my heart, I wish it were not so, but it is the truth! Our Lord’s, betrayal, desertion and finally his death upon the Cross are precisely the events that enable not a human victory, but a God made victory, the Victory of our God!
If Easter is going to really mean something to you, please “walk the lonesome valley”, in spirit and in truth. We will try to worship our way into to this spiritual reality through our worship on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 7:30 P.M. This service is a remembrance of the Last Supper, then the Crucifixion of Jesus on Calvary’s Hill. We call this our Maundy Thursday, or Holy Thursday service. The victory celebration (Easter) is celebrated at 8 A.M. and at 10:30 A.M. on March 27, 2016. Be a witness through your worship of the life, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ!
